  • Graded Papers in Kindergarten - Are You Kidding Me?

Tutu's Bliss recently wrote a post about Kindergarten - here and this got me thinking.

My son Cheeky goes to Kindergarten. He has been a happy go lucky kid who enjoys school. Last year he went to Pre-k and had so much fun. True to his name he is quite Cheeky too.. he had told his teacher that his hand hurts and very often would get out of any writing they required him to do! While suppressing my laughter I tried very hard to tell him he shouldn't do that! He hid under the table at clean up time and played truant! He is a fun kid and means no harm, just that he is Cheeky! The teachers have always loved him and he has never been in trouble at school.. not even a time out! He is a well behaved kid and likes to let the teachers have that good impression about him!

Will you be traveling a long distance with children this Thanksgiving or perhaps another holiday coming up?  Traveling with children can be, well, interesting to say the least!  Surviving the drive to your holiday destination does not have to be a nightmare, so don’t worry; just have a game plan in place to help reduce your holiday stress!  At least there are portable DVD players these days; they didn’t have those around when I was a kid! • Comfort Smells for a Mother

When my son was a baby, I'd hold him close and just breathe him in.  I could spend hours doing nothing except holding him in my arms, watching his perfect face, eye lids twitching in his dreams, and inhale, smelling the scent that is everything perfect and full of potential ... laundry detergent and Desitin and gentle soap and plasticy diapers... and their skin, so soft and pink with its own smell, like dew on a flower.

    He's 16 nowMore Here...

  • One Mom's Diary: Why I Switched To Formula

    Guest Post by Supermom Central
Please welcome my sweet sister, Lynsey, who is a total Mom-spiration to me! She's an awesome mom of 2 lucky little ones, a fantastic writer (you'll love her blog), and a totally amazing sister- plus she's by far the most hilarious person I know. She was kind enough to share with us her struggles to nurse her babies and the difficult process she went through to find the right solution for her.

When I had my first child, there were complications while breast feeding. Caleb had health problems and was not gaining weight quickly enough or at all, really. To top it off he screamed pretty much all of the time. It went way beyond "colic."

Even though I was an inexperienced first-time mom, my intuition told me that something else was wrong.More Here...

  • Normal Adoption - Really?

    Normal Adoption - Really?

"Normal adoption"-to many, that right there is an oxymoron. The conventional family is obviously biologically related, I'm aware. But I'm not really trying to address absolute normalcy, what I'm tackling is something that occurs within the adoption community.

Okay, so I am adopted. I am white, and I was adopted into a white family. I have no physical or mental disabilities. I am an adoptee of a closed adoption. This right here makes me normal of all adoptees. More Here...
